Anoushka Shankar

Anoushka Shankar is a British American artist and a sitarist is best known for her music. She was also the youngest and first woman to be awarded the British House of Commons Award. Anoushka Sitar Shankar was one of the Indian young sitar singer. She's the child of Ravi Shankar and a former student. She was born London in 1982, and her first years she split in London New Delhi. When she was 13 she staged her debut performance on stage in New Delhi. Then the same year, in Encinitas CA she attended high school and graduated with distinction in the year 1999. Anouskha is yet to be a mature woman however she's got an remarkable career in the field of recording and performing. She has been performing with her father on stage for several years. She released her debut self-titled album Anourag in 1998. It was nominated for a Grammy Award. Carnegie Hall album was released in 2002. Stage performances are a important aspect of her life. She's played in many important venues across the globe. Anoushka Shankar's work isn't only limited to performing in music. In 2002 she published the book Bapi The love of My Live this is an illustrated biography that gives a special honor to her late father Ravi Shankar. In addition, she has appeared in a number of films. In 2003, she was in the movie Dance Like a Man where she plays the role of a teenage Bharat Natyam dancer. Anoushka Shankar is an emerging star and her career is expected to continue growing. Anoushka was born in England, but spent most of her youth between London and Delhi. Then she moved to California and went to the high school there. She began studying music at the age nine and was a sitar player in celebration of the 75th anniversary her father's birth in Delhi four years later. Anoushka has gained lots of experience by touring the world with her dad. She appeared in Carnegie Hall in her teenage period, as well as recorded for George Harrison's WOMAD Festival. She was the only female winner of the House of Commons Shield awarded by the British Parliament for her artistry and musicianship as an outstanding musician from music in Asian Arts.
