Taylor Swift, in full Taylor Alison Swift (born December 13th, 1989 West Reading Pennsylvania U.S.) American pop and country music singer and songwriter, whose stories of young heartache achieved widespread recognition in the beginning of the 21st century. Swift had a passion for music since a young age. She quickly moved up the ranks, beginning by playing roles in the theater for children and eventually performing before an audience of thousands. Swift was 11 years old when she first performed The Star-Spangled Banner at a Philadelphia 76ers basketball game. Following that she started writing her own songs, and also picked up the guitar. Taking her inspiration from country music artists such as Shania Twain and the Dixie Chicks (now the Chicks) Swift crafted original material that reflected her experiences of tween alienation. Swift's parents moved her from Pennsylvania to Tennessee at 13 after selling their Pennsylvania farm. The move enabled Swift to devote more time looking for labels to promote country music in Nashville.
